From an idea to an app 4,000+ families open every week — this is Little Reads.

A founder came to us with a children’s reading idea and no product. We took it from concept through design and a native build to the App Store — and stayed through the early releases.

At a glance

Little Reads began as an idea — a better way for young children to build a daily reading habit — held by a founder who had never shipped an app before.

We took it the whole distance: product strategy, UX and UI design, a native build for iOS and Android, and the App Store and Play Store launch — and we stayed through the early releases. It is now a reading app that more than 4,000 families open every week, with a 4.8-star rating to match.

The engagement

How Little Reads went from an idea to the App Store.

Three stages, from a vision with nothing built to an app thousands of families open every week.

01

A strong idea, a first-time founder, and no product yet.

Little Reads arrived as a clear vision and nothing built. The founder knew the problem deeply and knew the audience — young children, and the parents guiding them — but had never taken an app from idea to store, and did not have a product spec, a design, or a development team.

The risk in that situation is rarely the code. It is building the wrong thing well. A children’s reading app lives or dies on whether children actually want to open it again tomorrow, and whether parents trust it — questions of product and design judgement, not engineering alone.

02

Concept to App Store, as one continuous engagement.

We started with product strategy — turning the vision into a specific, scoped first version, deciding what the app had to do on day one and what could wait. Then UX and UI design built for small hands and short attention spans, and shaped around how children and parents actually behave.

From there, a native build for both iOS and Android, and the full launch process — store listings, the privacy and data-safety requirements, and a staged release. We did not hand over a build and leave; we stayed through the first releases, watching how real families used it and adjusting.

03

An app families do not just download — they use.

Little Reads launched on the App Store and Play Store and found its audience quickly. More than 4,000 families now open it every week — for a habit product the number that matters is not installs but weekly use, and that is the one that grew. The App Store rating settled at 4.8 stars.

The founder’s own summary captured what made the difference: they came in with an idea and walked out with an app families actually use every day — and it was the product thinking, not just the screens, that got them there.

We came in with a children’s reading idea and walked out with an app families actually use every day. Their thinking is what makes them different — not just the screens.
